Такое дополнение оригинального текста продиктовано желанием редакции предоставить российскому читателю максимально полное собрание теорий и концепций личности.

Для того, чтобы не разрывать последовательность изложения, дополнительные главы начинаются с главы о теософии, продолжая обзор Р. Фрейджера и Д. Фейдимана концепций личности, расположенных как бы на периферии официальной науки. Далее порядок глав приблизительно повторяет тот, который предложен авторами основного текста. Авторы добавочных глав старались подходить к описанию теорий личности, как и Р. Фрейджер и Д. Фейдиман, «настолько позитивно и благожелательно, насколько это возможно», стремились соблюсти заявленную основным текстом форму и структуру изложения материала.
